Irene Williams

A few months ago I was completely captivated by this video of Irene Williams: Queen of Lincoln Road! She has fashioned her own impeccably put together outfits for years, while sourcing even bathroom accessories as fabric. "the hat was a commode cover", she says! A man named Eric Smith made a short documentary about Irene, below is the trailer and more information can be found Here

Mimi Weddell

Today yet another stylistically seasoned pro was brought to my attention, whom is also the subject of a recent documentary named "Hats Off". Her name is Mimi Weddell and you may have seen her on the runway of Lorick's SS09 show (Abigail Lorick being the stylist of the oh so addictive Gossip Girl), or as Stanford's grandmother on Sex and the City...I find her to be the most interesting, just as herself. Below is the trailer and more information can be found Here

one more link!! an entire blog dedicated to the street style of the older generations.

I'm inspired, to say the least!

ITEM OF THE WEEK!

Car Clutch's 'Act Neutral' 12"- Act Neutral seems to be an active individuals anthem in disguise, "Never not working" is a great set of words to demonstrate just how this record came into fruition. Thanks Brendan, Ethan and guest A-Ron, The Downtown Don for never not working! The synths have me thinking of the sci-fi cult classic, Liquid Sky but with a totally different message. Who needs drugs and aliens anyways?

I'm anxiously awaiting the "makeout record", guys!

The Golden Age One Year Anniversary Party was a wonderful time, Thanks to Bearries and Brad Troemel for a high energy show and an intense window installation.

And mega thanks to all of you who came and made it a super positive evening, it was great to see everyone! So many new people enjoying themselves along with so many longtime friends. So much diversity and so much positivity, different social groups mingling and enjoy themselves, so idyllic. Let's keep it going for years to come! Thanks 100% for your support, you've given us such a great year; we couldn't do it without all of you!

Last night a few friends and I went to see the Beautiful Losers movie at the Gene Siskel Theatre. It was a powerful, motivational and positive film which I heartily advocate seeing. When the curtains came down the film was over, I was fully psyched and ready to come home to work and work and work. It was a document of Unfettered positivity from a strong, diverse group of people.

ITEM OF THE WEEK!
Temporary Habits, Letterpress pamphlet book from San Francisco based artist Brian Kanagaki. $9.99

This is just too good looking. Supercrisp black on black embossed envelope that contains a smooth pamplet book that unfolds into a detailed poster. Such a tender pamphlet book, the ink just lays so flat on the surface and the design is so ubiquitous. Powerful piece in a tiny hand numbered edition of 100. If you'd like to place an order for one of these babies, email and we'll send you a total!

Today I stumbled upon the All Ages Movement Project, it's "a network of community-based organizations that connect young people through independent music and art." Their website has a directory of all ages organizations around the country and a Resource Wiki about best practices for running spaces. They also recently published a guide on starting community spaces. The all ages movement/scene/whatev in Los Angeles was pretty crucial to my personal development, so it's great to see this. Chicago is majorly lacking in the AMP directory. Go over to the site and add your organization!

So I've been reading a bit of Crunk and Disorderly and they alerted me to the reality of the side-eye.
I've been getting the side-eye a lot recently and I have to say, I can't imagine how I'd feel if I had a baby and that baby gave me the side eye. Thank God.

I vote for an end to the Microsoft/Apple war. I think they both suck and I'm waiting for something better. In the meantime: Microsoft says "Bee Movie was not the comeback Jerry Seinfeld thought it would be(e)."

SUMI INK CLUB WAS A BLAST, super super psyched. I feel like it was a gathering everyone was really looking for; everyone involved was from manifold social groups, there were people of all ages, all from completely different backgrounds coming together in one space and engaging in something positive. Totally idyllic. I'm excited for the coming season, things are changing and we're glad to be part of the change. 100% love to Lucky Dragons, powerful, strong people with wonderful ideals.

Thanks to everyone who participated and please email us your name so we can figure out who to attribute this wonderful drawing on our wall to.

This is very important. Anytime a fashion icon gets transformed into a plush, and not only a plush, a teddy bear, the most classic of all plush animals, I feel it's worth noting. This seems like a pinnacle (or a all time low) for the Karl Lagerfeld brand.
Thanks to Aya Yamasaki for the images.
